The Right Sods for Central Florida Landscaping
At
Seminole Landscaping, we’ve done the necessary research
to identify sods that will flourish throughout the year in Florida’s
wet summers and dry winters. St. Augustine® brands Floratam®,
Seville®, and Palmetto®, plus Bahia, each with its own
set of advantages, will meet your landscaping needs no matter where
your home or business is located in Central Florida.
Floratam Sod
Introduced in 1973, Floratam sod is used almost exclusively
throughout Florida because of its many qualities, including its
resistance
to cinch bugs and its thick, healthy turf. Floratam sod is also
highly adaptable, performing best in full sunlight, and thriving
under a wide variety of soil and environmental conditions present
in Central Florida.
Because cinch bugs are developing a resistance to present-day
insecticides, Floratam sod and its specific chemistry performs
well in a bug environment, and is also resistant to the St.
Augustine Decline Virus. Foratam sod is also the most vigorous — spreading
rapidly while producing a healthy turf that subdues weeds and other
grasses. There is little doubt as to its good looks, with its lush
dark green turf and its reputation for adding value and beauty
to any landscaping design.
Finally, Floratam sod is backed by the CertiTurf® guarantee,
ensuring that your sod will be thoroughly inspected at your site,
and that it will be free of noxious weeds and harmful pests.

Seville Sod
With its ability to grow in areas of little sunlight, Seville sod is a semi-dwarf grass used throughout the southeastern United
States. Another vigorous sod, Seville has an excellent horizontal
compact growth due to its semi-dwarf composition, and requires
less mowing than most grasses.
While Seville sod is one of the highest ranked shade-tolerant
St. Augustine grasses, it also grows well in full sunlight. Seville sod will prove its worth when those cold snaps come along because
it has an excellent tolerance to cold weather. It retains its color
and, when warm weather returns, it shows its true green again with
only moderate fertilizer. Like Floratam, Seville sod is also protected
by the CertiTurf® umbrella, guaranteeing the best possible
sod available, free of noxious weeds and harmful pests.

Palmetto Sod
Palmetto sod is a new
St. Augustine grass. It retains its color well, grows in dense
patterns, and thrives in full sunlight. It
grows rapidly, even in shady areas, and resists disease. Palmetto
sod tolerates cold weather well, including frost, and is also covered
by our CertiTurf® guarantee.

Bahia Sod
Bahia sod is used throughout Central Florida. It is relatively
inexpensive, and requires minimal care. A thick sod, Bahia holds
up well during periods of drought, and resists bugs and insects.
